Does anybody subscribe? Is it any good?

I used to subscribe to F&C, but didn't bother renewing.

Cheers

Karl

Try the revamped F&C Karl, it's much better. I don't get FWW every month as it doesn't always interest, however since Borders shut I've found it almost impossible to get hold of and Smith's have a pretty poor selection of mags

Hi Karl

You could try subscribing to the Fine woodworking website, the yearly charge is not to bad and I think most of the magazine articles find there way onto the site plus members get access to the archive articles and quite a lot of videos and other information. I've found it interesting and useful. Not sure but think there maybe a trial period to see if you like it!

As a slight aside, I went into Smiths today to pick up a Woodwork mag....what a dissappointment.

They had just three titles plus the Woodturning mag. Each magazine was a shadow of what I remember from just a few years ago.

Its a lot easier to buy to a soft porn mag these days than it is a decent Woodworking magazine :( The circulation must be really down!

Are there any decent magazines worth subscribing to?

I thought of subscribing as it is hard to find on the shelf. I do have the 1775-2008 collection on disk, which gives me a lot of resources at my finger tips but it doesn't work on mac so i don't read it as much as i would like to. I found it on e-bay for £15.

I just don't see the value in their online membership but then i haven't given it a go to see. I'd like to know what others think of it online.

The only thing with it on disk is that it isn't a digital copy they have a program called projector to read the content, which isn't all that good. On the mac it crawls and on windows it crashes a fair amount. I"m glad i didn't buy it for the $150 they want for it or i'd be pretty angry.

The latest issue of F&C has just dropped onto the mat this morning and it seems much better...good article on three phase stuff that should interest Bob 9fingers.
FWW is very good, but the cavalier elfn'safety altitude of most 'murrican users on their tablesaurs, with pics attached makes me irritated  to say the very least. I'm barely able to flick through it on the shelves in WHS without ripping out the offending pages - Rob
