Sourced a new to me edgebander recently, and it needed a new heater element. I tried the manufacturer of the edgebander, and the prices they were suggesting made my secondhand purchase look rather foolish. Anyway, a little digging around and I found out that the heater was made by Zinser in German. Popped an email off to them not expecting any response. Well, they were brilliant, couldn't have been more helpful, great information and offered me three solutions. Send me the replacement parts for a now obsolete heater, send it back to them for a full service / repair or, a complete new heater. Well, a complete new heater was less than half the edgebander manufacturer quoted me for just the heater and since it's the heart of the machine I opted for a complete new heater. A new element was less than 1/6 the price I had been quoted! The new heater arrived 48hrs later.
