Hi all, I have fancied an infill plane for awhile now and recently won one on ebay. When it came I was a little disappointed with its condition. There was no mention in the listing of it having a shoddy repair to the handle, when I picked it up a piece fell off, It looks like it had recently had a squirt of super glue to fix it. I payed £52, do you think I should have a winge. I know nothing about this type of plane so don't even know if it was worth it?

It looks promising in the photo. If the casting is good, look back at Jimi's posts for how to sort out the wood.

It may be no comfort to you but I think lots of eBay sellers refrain from saying anything about their tools relying on the photos alone. So they haven't falsely presented what they have, they have just not volunteered info on the defects.

So in future always ask a seller if there are any cracks, loose bits or repairs - then if they say no but there are faults you could reject the plane.

If you can restore it then you didn't pay too much.

Yes complain to the seller. You might get a discount - nobody wants negative feedback and they should forewarn you of obvious defects.
I suspect you aren't so dissatisfied that you want your money back?

If you are not unhappy with it and its worth the £52 to you,....I'd move on - and mention the defects in the Feedback.

I'm not sure quibbling a few quid to 'win a case' is worth the bother -personally. I've done enough complaining to give some a swerve, now. Two recent items had a piece missing but I'd rather spend the energy elsewhere.

Thanks chaps, I don't know what make it is. Any ideas? It has a couple of user stamps. The casting is in good condition so that's the main thing. Live and learn :D
