It's Sunday and the Combi gave up early Saturday afternoon, hence no heat or hot water  The only thing left is a living flame that you have to virtually sit on to derive any benefit. So I had the bright idea of using the cookers oven to provide some warmth and it's proving to be reasonably effective. Which made me think: how come it doesn't need a flue? Why haven't I poisoned myself with CO?

Be careful, you _do_ need ventilation though, and it will steam everything up, too.

To be honest, if I'm in the kitchen during the day for any length of time I put a gas ring on. It doesn't need to be high - a low setting is enough to kick out quite a lot of heat, and our kitchen has a high ceiling (old house!). If I'm there for a while I put the hob extractor on too - it waste a bit of heat, but it's safer.

Obviously the heat transfer gas-to-room is almost 100% efficient, unlike central heating!

If t'was so, that really would be an incredibly dumb question!
Anyway, not much fear of lack of ventilation in this particular house. I think I need 30 cans of expanding foam.
