I bought one last year and sharpened all my drills on it - works well and easy to use.

I think the range is 10mm? down but it will not hold the really small ones 1mm from memory?

I know you can sharpen without this device but small ones like this are a pain to hold on a grinder.

Likewise, got the base level model a year or two ago and it does exactly what it says on the tin.

Easy and quick to use and great results.

plus another bit of kit taking up valuable workshop space.

Hi

I'd rather buy some top quality lip and spur bits - with care they will last indefinitely if only used on wood and give a much better finish.

Learning to hand grind jobber drills can't be that difficult.

I'm too old to buy it! It costs more than I could manage to spend on drills in the time I have left.
Perhaps I should buy one for each of my children while they are young enough to appreciate it... ;-)

That's what I thought.

(For reference, I'm in my thirties.)

It's not the only solution either.

I've had one of these for donks,

and it does work really well. It's better at the larger sizes, but that's probably got as much to do with my cheap grinding wheel as anything. I haven't tried it on the slow-speed wet grinder - it might be the answer.

Anyway, it cost a fraction of Rutlands thing, and I've had sharper drills from it than when said drills were new.
