A notice has been posted on the Diamond fretsaw website:
Doug Woodward was a delight to know. He took enormous pride in the Diamond fretsaws he designed and manufactured, heavy duty saws which were so innovative in their day that rival manufacturers still struggle to match their quality. No matter how old a Diamond saw might have been or how many hands it might have passed through, Doug took it as a personal affront if one of his saws had the temerity to break down - even after decades of continual use.
I met Doug on a few occasions towards the end of his life and never met a sweeter man. He was a true gentleman of the old school and his passing leaves the scrolling community so much the poorer.
