Possibly with far too much time on my hands while laid up, I often kill time watching t.v. and recently tripped over a show on Discovery Turbo (Early weekday mornings) called "Discovering Da Vinci" in which a team of "experts" attempt to build machines/inventions taken from Leonardo DaVinci's writings and drawings.

Maybe food for thought and possibly interesting to some fellow forumites.

Viewing the series, I was surprised to discover neither "carpenter" seeming capable of using hand tools - neverminding power tools - for fairly standard large joinery tasks. Especially the older character, who's more of a wood butcher than anything else and yet seems unfazed by criticism of his workmanship.

I've watched it a couple of times and thought really a chainsaw to cut joints. Its quite fun though
