As an aside to my last post, does anyone have any links to folk who do intarsia portraits of people or pets?

I was looking for something on-line, someone offering it as a service.
Basically I looking for what people charge for that sort of "personal" service

Stunning and Absolutely amazing! I can almost hear the trumpeting! You're very talented sir

Brian.

It has to be said, you have great talent, obviously complemented by buckets full of patience.

You often complement our/others on scroll work, but believe me it’s fairly simple and straight forward compared to your intarsia work. =D>

Take care.

Chris.

Hi Brian, those elephants are a great restoration job and I'm sure that the owners were delighted.

Your comment that ( You will never be able to do Intarsia and sell at a profit and earn a living but they are nice little earners to add to your income as they take too long to do.) seems so true, unless you are extreemly tallented and have built a reputation that would warrant very high prices and have reached the stage when you are selling your own plans.

Looking at delving into intarsia this year, I know that each project will take far longer than any other work I have done so far and there is no way to recover that cost. My reason is trying to achieve something that I and others can appreciate and fill my time with a great hobby.

I have been looking at so many people who produce intarsia that 'to me' does not really look 'right'. In some cases it looks like something that has gone very wrong and yet they are offering those for sale, which I would never have the nerve to do. Yes, I may be selling my work, but not for profit.

Thanks for showing more of your superb craftsmanship, it's an inspiration to others.

I have to agree with all your agreeing, but you put it better than I could so, thanks.
Your point about the "look" of intarsia hit home. Some very well made pieces just look bad. I can see lots of time and effort have gone in to something and you can appreciate it for that, but yuk. I dont think peoples faces work well most of the time, and excess hight and smoothing is distracting.

Totally agree on the prtoduction and doing 3D with different heights. It is an essential part of the art. Will pm you so not to take up space on Puckle's questions.
