Hi all. Anyone who owns this saw will know the mitre gauge is beyond rubbish. I was trying to decide on an after market mitre gauge to buy but I had seen a couple people mention they had problems with compatability. I'm not looking for anything too fancy just for assisting in making tenons on the table saw. I was wondering if anyone else has this saw and what mitre gauge they used. Alan

Shop made Cross cut jig/sled would be the cheaper more flexible route. Either that or the bandsaw

I agree with Bodgers - I'd have a jig to hold the piece vertical to cut the shoulders, and then use a cross cut sled for the cheeks.

A mitre gauge does have its uses though. I'm not sure what size mitre slot your saw has, but the I have this one and it has adjustable rollers along the length of the runner, giving a snug fit http://www.axminster.co.uk/ujk-technolo ... nce-501281

I bought a Kreg one (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kreg-KMS7102-P ... ge_o06_s00) for mine. I was not cheap! the mitre bar / runner has a number of grub screws you have to set to snug it up in the mitre slot. This works but it's not as snug and smooth as I'd have liked i.e. if you have the screws coming out too far it won't slide so there has to be some play for the thing to work.

I used some MicroJig bars (http://woodworkersworkshop.co.uk/epages ... J_ZP9-B2S2) for my sled but they could be used to make any kind of jig. They work really well and it's plastic in contact with the slot so they're nice 'n' snug.

Out of the box they will fit anywhere between 18.5 to 20mm. They're plastic though so you could possibly trim / sand them down if you're very careful to about 13mm and 10mm at an absolute pinch. I may have a shot at doing that for my bandsaw table... some day!

Aw come on be the ginny pig and try it first, save us all time, effort and more importantly money. LOL

Mike

Thanks all for your help. I decided to go down the cross cut sled route and found some mitre bars at axminister for about 12 each. I had made a cross cut before with plywood runners but seasonal change caused them to swell so gave up. But I'm hoping with the aluminium runners I should have hopefully have better success
