One thing I had in mind which would have been ideal for this voucher was a straight edge but having recently bought a planer thicknesser from a fellow forum member I ended up buying one a few weeks back. Finding I need to put some threaded holes in aluminium I started reading up on taps and dies. Following more advice on here I decided against buying a set of what would likely be mostly unsed parts of questionable quality and origin I bought a set of 8mm Presto taps which I'm told are a reputable make and more than capable of meeting my modest requirements. I'm not the man who has got everything but seem to have pretty much what I need (for now!)
