Hi Guys

im in the market for a budget Friendly table saw

my requirements are

needs to be portable enough for one person to handle

needs to be able to to be permanently installed in a small workshop, (want to be able to build it in to my work bench

ill be using it for narrow 18mm cuts to 400mm cuts, rips

needs to be a corded model

can anyone recommend any decent options?
My budget is maxed out at £350

I was looking at the skil ts6307 but they dont sell it in the uk

any help greatly appreciated for a DIY guy
 
my son-in-law - DIY , has an evolution table saw , cant remember the exact model
he has used for a lot of diy jobs, including building cupboards, draw units , vanity units

he also has purchased blades from saxton blades - 60/80/100T

I think it was the Rage5 - which i see is on offer at the moment - ignore the 240v is out of stock

Excell did a simalar one but then they dropped it. Black and decker do one but it's £220 pounds.

Avoid the basic 8" and box 10" saws imho.

I have a lot of their kit..4..but not the table saw....more's the pity......
chop n circ saws I use for pallet wood *multi-material teeth" and the specialist metal cutting saws...
gotta say no complaints "does what it says on the tin".....
 
I’m confused by the need for portability, and yet it being built into a bench.

However, this is what I would do:

1. Buy this:

2. Remove the two table extensions

3. Remove the lower half of the body

That will then be an excellent, small, potentially mobile (within a bench on castors) saw.

Your budget covers the saw, your fuel to get it, and a bit of elbow grease.
 
I have the excel one but sadly they have dropped it from their range. Their customer service is a bit wierd in that they will never confirm or deny whether something is just temporarily out of stock and will come back at some point or if they have been discontinued completely.

If I were to need to replace my one tomorrow, then I would get the metabdo TS254M as others have reccomended. It's £150 more than the excel but looks better built, has a better fence, and has a range of accessories including a sliding table available.

I had the evolution rage 5 table saw and unfortunately I would not recomend it.
The fence is really poor and caused me loads of issues cos I couldn't get it to line up square.
 
I had a cheap titan saw. As a saw it was fine. The real issue was the fence. I ended up buying the dewalt saw (about £500) but the fence is great for general joinery work

I also went for the dewalt and agree the fence is great. Only downside to the saw is it's on the smaller side, but the quality of it makes up for that.
 
I have the Evolution Rage and the fence is fine on mine - locks front and back which is a plus and the sliding table is handy. Folding, wheeled base is great for portability. I have a very tiny workshop so it is good to be able to fold it away when not in use (and I have made a top to go on it to provide a bit of additional dumping space when it is folded away)

interesting, my S-i-L is very Over the top about this sort of thing, he will spend hours , where i only spend a few minutes - getting things right

But he has had no issues with the table saw fence or the miter saw alignment and hes used them a lot for various things - cutting a lot of birch ply into cabinets, drawer units, sliding under stairs storage ......
 
My fence had loads of play before locking it down, you could essentially lock it down at varying angles. I may have just had a bad one, but either way I'm much happier with what I have now.
 
I'm just looking to upgrade my entry level Einhell, my main complaint is the fence. I'd pretty much settled on the Evolution Rage S over the DeWalt based on price ... until I read the complaint above about the fence and now the DeWalt's pinion fence system is looking the better option!
Like the OP my plan is to build the new saw into a bench.
Something with soft-start (or easily convertible to soft-start) is a big plus!

I recently converted my dewalt to soft start. Easy to do and makes the saw feel so much less aggressive on start up

I have the Evolution Rage 5s.
Have been using it for two or three years. It's great. The fence locks at both ends by pulling together.
