Looking for advise on making soffit boards 8 metres long ( I want to avoid joints)
I was thinking of making soffit boards from 2 thicknesses of 12mm ply 300mm deep 2440mm long with staggered joints
to achieve a soffit 8metres long x 24mm thick.
My concern is there would be outer plies of the same direction glued together, would this cause warp eventually.?
The soffits would be backed up at the top and bottom inner edges by some C16, say 75x75mm full length.
Or any other solutions welcomed .?

thanks
Howard

ply sounds like future trouble to me, if you cut the join of timber well, wouldn't that be as invisible as the 3 joints on the made up ply?

Ply is a no no.

Could you not use some decent softwood, treat it and then laminate it with some off-the-roll veneer to achieve a continuous run?
