Paid another visit to my tree surgeon the other day after he'd told me he had got some nice Chestnut in which he had had for about 18 months.
Went along thinking that it was all cut up into small logs, when he showed me the whole trunk. The trunk measured 25" across.
After cutting a piece off for me,it did look to have some nice colour and grain pattern to it,he cut the rest up into 4 manageable pieces.
Got them home and i cut them all up into slabs using my electric chainsaw, which surprisingly did make light work of it all, then into round blocks of varying sizes on my bandsaw, and ends sealed.
Wasn't able to take a piccy of the round blocks as me camera started to play up.

Paul,

Well done on the wood front, looks a useful supply should keep you busy for a few weeks.

Piccy showing the amount of waste.Four bags of saw dust.
I must correct you here, its not waste, that is fuel for the wood burner, toasty shop in winter. :D

Thanks Dave.
I would love to burn the waste i accumalate,but i don't have a woodburner.
Never thought of one in the workshop, thought it might be too much of an hazard.
