Band saw blade tracking
I have seen various manufacturers manuals on how to set the tracking. Some say the gullet between the teeth should be at the edge of the tyre,
others say the whole blade in the centre, Now I find one that say the gullet should be on the centre line of the tyre.
The last does say this is for ease of swopping blade sizes without resetting the guides. This does sound logical
So at the end of the day, is it a case of trying them all, and the one that works without problems adopt that method. :? :?

I think narrow blade bandsaws (up to 1 1/4" wide) are normally tracked in the centre. I wouldnt want to track a 1/2" blade with the teeth overhanging.

Wide blade bandsaws (2" to 6") do have teeth overhanging. There is a difference though, these are re-saws and the wheels are metal with no tyre, so the blade keeps cool and scrapers stop the wheels getting build up of resin or sawdust debris. Narrow blade bandsaws always run on tyres and these are soft enough to avoid any changes to the blade set.

I think this could be the reason for conflicting advise.

There is somebody on here with a mammoth workshop build that has some excellent dvds on bandsaws. :D

THis video will show you how t set up correctly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGbZqWac0jU

A recent exception seems to be on an older bandsaw where the manufacturers guide says the teeth should be over the edge of the blade, but that may be just for the one bandsaw. If you follow the video a few times, you should be OK

I think you may be referring the Steve Maskery, who has some excellent DVD's - http://www.workshopessentials.com/shop/
