Combined spindle and belt sander

I'm having a nightmare trying to get one of these. There was one on Rutlands I wanted for months but has been out of stock since March, finally come back into stock and the buggers have ramped the price up and pretended it's now discounted!

But there's an 8 week wait for stock.

I had one watched on ebay that's now disappeared too.

It seems I'm not destined for one of these!

Can anyone recommend alternatives?

They are made by Sealey and re-badged by all and sundry, do a google search for "Sealey belt and bobbin sander" this is the first one that came up on my search a minute ago: https://www.ffx.co.uk/tools/product/Sea ... ander-230V sure you could find it cheaper.

Well, I've got fed up with waiting to be honest! Rutlands kept moving the goalposts as to when it would be available.

Plus, now I have stuff to make I really need it now.

Sealey stuff any good? Never had any of their tools.

Before you splash out on this make sure it will do what you want. These things are only about 450 watt (or less) and are very much aimed at hobby users I think. I have a much more powerful trade rated bench top belt sander (and a separate spindle bobbin) and I can easily slow the belt if I am putting much pressure on. I have used one of these little bobbin spindle sanders for sanding curves on musical instrument bodies. You need to have a fairly light touch or they lack grunt. There is quite a noticeable jump in performance between the cheap DIY ones and trade rated ones.

I find the Sealey bobbin and belt sander suits all the DIY that I do without slowing down, if I need to take that much off a piece I usually use the Bandsaw on it first.

Sealey don't make anything they sell the same items as many others with their name on it but are good with their after sales support.

Mine works well and doesn't slow belt unless very excessive pressure used.

Well I find my Sealey version absolutely brilliant, don't know what I would do without it, smoothing the inside of BandSaw box's on the bobbins and straightening small bits of timber or putting a penciled in curve on bits, does the job for me.
