My first go at using diffusers and spirit stains...

Not bad for a first effort, says he who usually makes a pigs ear of stain attempts, top surface shows some uneven dispersion but the overall proportions seem good to my eyes.
I'm impressed with the solid colour you have on the up-stands without bleed showing on the horizontal surfaces.

Very nice Stewart, I like the colour combination and the depth of colour too, and the design works very well for me, impressive.

Thank you, folks. Solid colour is a sharpie...way to go yet with the stains to get that accuracy!

You could try spirit stains with a cotton bud to give you more control. With the buds you can squeeze excess stain out of them so they just stain the area where they touch. Obviously a pair of latex or polythene gloves is essential. I found using this method was a lot more accurate than using a brush or sponge.

Nice bowl Stewart, I really like the design and finish.

Another members' piece to plagiarise.
