Wasn't sure where to put this so put it here. I bought a coffee table today. I saw it in Gumtree. Exactly what I wanted. It is not a production table but one that has been made by an individual who, in my book, is a true craftsman. It's 4ft long by 2ft wide and the top is made from 2inch thick solid oak, the whole thing is very beautiful and extremely heavy and took two of us to lift it.
The top has two small stains on it and I am not sure the best way of removing them short of sanding the whole top off. I suspect whoever made the table treated it with an oil finish to bring the grain out and then wax polished it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
