Should be a simple question, I hope? I use my honing guide on waterstones, which can get pretty messy so how do I clean it without wrecking it? How did you guys clean your Veritas honing guides, as the instructions say wash under water and then dry, but doesn’t the honing guide have steel components in them……….rust? :?

Thanks all!! :D

Ah the benefits of oil stones... I just give it a wipe over with a paper towel after use. Mmm, I have a feeling that it might be stainless steel anyway? Not 100% sure of that mind.

I use waterstones and just wipe the wheel over with a rag between stones-easy peasy!
I'm told the odd drop of oil on the wheel spindle every now and then is beneficial for long and happy life.
Hope this helps

i think general cleaning and the drying is good practice anyway,
and i use camomile oil on mine after usage, although i am sure that
any oil would do. i think it depends on how often, you use the jig, as to whether it gets rusty.
