Chuck jaw compatibility

Can anyone tell me if the Axminster jaws will fit the Record SC4 chuck? I note that the Record jaw carriers have a Grove in them whereas the Axminster chuck jaw carriers have a "post". It looks like if I use the Axminster jaws with the SC4 the only thing locating the jaws would be the screws.

Don't know the answer to your query but don't assume the hole centres and thread diameters are the same between brands.

From an engineering point of view the ultimate containment of centrifugal loads and alignment of the accessory jaws is down to the location spigots, Although the screws obviously play a significant part in use, should they fail (stripped threads or sheared *) or not be tightened correctly it's the spigot that takes the load, the screws should be considered as just retaining items not load carrying.

* This is not unknown in practice, especially if you regularly swap accessory jaws.
