I have a Charnwood W730 bandsaw with a snapped blade (my fault). In preparation for fitting the new blade I browsed the user manual and was reminded that this model has a choice of 2 blade speeds. How do I select the "other" speed? There is nothing in the manual.

There should be a two stage pulley between the bottom wheel and the motor. And a way of loosening the belt. put the belt on the smaller pulley of the motor and the larger pulley of the wheel. Take the slack out of the belt (NOT TOO TIGHT) just like a car fan belt..

Thanks, I will take a look.

You happy with your bandsaw? May I ask how long you've had it?

I'm curious as thinking of getting a very similar Charnwood machine to yours.

I've had mine for around five years and it has been fine. I bought is used and have had no problems although I haven't tried it at full depth of cut. The quick release tension lever is particularly useful.
