Hi,
does anyone have the book "practical veneering" or "Practical woodcarving and gilding" by charles hayward? Im consdering buying a copy but I cant seem to be able to find a brief description of contents or a quick review. Could any of the forum members please do this for me? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Cheers

Did someone call? I have most of Hayward's books and reckon that they are some of the clearest written and most informative books around.
As you probably know, the Woodworker handbooks were published in the 40s/50s/60s then revised and re-issued in the 70s.
This is the contents from the Veneering book, 1949:

And this is the contents page from the carving and gilding book, in a 1973 edition

Thanks Andy thats been a big help, Looks like i'll have to get em now! Fascinating to compare differences in font and layout between the two publishing dates.

Cheers

the veneering one looks particularly interesting. I have just bought a "used- very good" copy off Amazon. There are plenty more available, just for the price of the postage, and a nominal penny.
