Candle stick??

I have a question about the finish... What is the best finish to put onto a candle stick holder? A wax? varnish? Oil??

What wood and designe? A photo would be handy?

I have used hard wax oil, carnuba wax, celulose sanding sealer with melamine lacqure on that. There are lots of things depending on how you want it to look?

I havent actually made it yet...One i have in mind is oak, a square block at the moment but im going to carve on all edges...unsure what patten as yet, am still researching the best look!! And another one is almost finished, also oak but smething a little more natural than the block!! Might carv something on that one too??

Varnish will probably make it look quite hard. It would depend on the depth of the carving, but if I were doing it then I would consider Danish oil on oak. The 2 seem to go well together for me..

Most of the stuff I do is turned and that makes it easier to finish :mrgreen:

Another question!.... What is the best way to make the whole for the t-light candle?? I hve come up with a 40mm drill bit...any other ideas??!
