Hi all, while I wait for my book to arrive to help me on my way, I was wondering If someone could turn a piece of wood for me.

I want to see what type of finish you get without any sanding.

Can anyone post a pic straight from the lathe?

I think I have have blunt chisels and it is causing it to rip the wood instead of cutting it.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

:? :)

Hi RPM

So much depends on the wood, the technique as well as the tools. Even the best turners will run some fine abrasive over it to finish. Whereabouts are you situated? Someone may be able to either suggest somewhere where you can see a demo, or show you a bit on their own lathe.
Regards

As Nick says, the type of wood, as well as technique and tools, make a difference as well as whether you are turning between centres or as a bowl.

Give us some more info and I am sure we can give you some pointers.

Cheers, Paul :D
