Blow torch for carbonising rim of a bowl

I use a standard (BnQ iirc) plumbers propane or butane tourch with a flow valve and that I have to light with a match each time. Mapp gas with one of those flashy one click combined on and lighter torchs would be great but at more than £60 last time I looked.

I've answered this before but the post has disappeared again - it happened on a thread I looked at yesterday as well.
Just buy a torch that takes a pretty standard cartridge. The expensive ones are usually expensive because the are more complicated with anti flare devices, which of course is great for a plumber using it in all sorts of positions but of negligible value to you. A small one such as are used in kitchens, such as this https://www.amazon.co.uk/TTMOW-Refillab ... orch&psc=1 would suit if you wish to vary the degree of burning - you wouldn't have so much control with a large torch.

Mark Hancock advises the use of MAP gas because it's hotter ... but I can't remember the reasoning behind it.

It works off a butane/ propane mix, seems nicely made and did a great job of burning my first rim (it easily created a good even blackness and didn't take long).
It opened up a surface split that was already there - I really like it and want to try to encourage it in a few more, if I can (just in the surface -
any suggestions welcome!)
