as im sure most of us know this forum seems to bring out the best in people :lol: the quality work and the generosity of members.

one members halo is slightly shinier than all off ours. he found time between producing fine cabinets and sending off offcuts all over the country.

to send me these two lovely pieces of timber for my rams head cane

lacewood (quatersawn london plane) and yew

lace wood with some cooking oil to raise the superb grain

and the same with the yew

i think the lacewood is my choice for making this heirloom stick. a piccy of the stave and top together

Well done you, if the world was fullof woodworkers what a safe and friendly place it would be.

That London plane looks great. I work in London but have never seen any being taken down. I'll keep my eye open though, it looks fab.
