hi there

have a stunning piece of yew 12 inches in diameter, 4 inches thick, desperately dont want to turn out the middle of it, but have no bowl saver. Anyone in the south Cornwall area that might be able to help me out ?

cheers
chris

I didnt think bowl savers went that small? Especially when you have whacked in some screws.

You do not have to use screws to secure a round 3 inch thick blank, all you need to do is glue a sacrificial tenoned block to the rear face.
Turn out the centre, finish the inside and the outside as far as is possible, then reverse the bowl in a doughnut chuck or cole jaws to finish off. :D

Using the Woodcut Bowsaver , with a little bit of care you can get set of 3 nested bowls, screws or no screws from a blank of that size.
