So it gets to nine o'clock tonight and the wife says she wants to watch Silent Witness, not a problem thinks I will watch Carved with Love on I Player straight after.

Approx ten past ten and wifie has gone to bed, I fire up the Wii, link to I player, BBC4, Today and fire up the said programme, everything going swimmingly

44 mins into the programme suddenly I get the frozen screen and the ring of dots rotating in the middle of the screen. Then the immortal words not enough bandwidth.

I go back to the index screen start everything again and surprise surprise the programme has dropped off the menu

No problem thinks I so I fire up the laptop go to I player link to the programme which states "coming soon"

RANT over

But seriously has anyone come across this before where they will allow a programme then instantly cut it after the initial showing

I normally find I player the best for viewing previously shown programmes they appear best for quality and no commercials but felt a little disappointed with the fact that they appear to have cut the programme

Well, it's now 7:40 on Friday morning and a quick look at iPlayer shows 'Carved with love' as available on iPlayer. Maybe they had a bit of a technical glitch.

I usually download stuff from iPlayer to make sure there are no bufffering problems.

Hi,

Nearly the same thing happened to me last night, about 10:10 the Wii stopped and said it was unavailable, looks like a problem at there end.
I had to connect the laptop to the TV to watch it, but then I fell asleep and woke up at the end!

Pardon my thickness, but how do you download from iPlayer ??

are you aware that with these new fangled digiboxes, you can record one program whilst watching another? you can even record 2 programs at the same time and sometimes watch a third! Theyre even partially clairvoyant, if you try and record a third program is says you cant, but it is repeated at 3am next thursday, would you like to record that one?
:)

And they are very cheap. And don't dig into your download quota.

Have to say when listening to folks talk about using the internet for radio I have to smile as generally I don't like my Wagner in 5 minute instalments!

Ah roger, you need Virgin broadband cable, but if you reside in the wilds you have had it.

Roger, I have gone to the Sony tv and digital recorder in that other room which runs off the aerial and a kind of freeview then set a radio channel to record at 1 pm today.

Let you know how that records.

Hi Nev

My skybox is in an extension I bulit approx 16 years ago and fed coax for both sky and terrestrial unfortunately skyplus didnt exist (well to my knowledge anyway) so I only fed single coax not the double barrelled stuff. therefore I cannot use skyplus or skyHD to its full potential until I run another lead, and there lies the problem as I dont want it dangling down walls tacked to skirting etc I'm waiting till I redecorate to fit the cable.

Until then its normal sky for me (I get a call a week from sky offering me deals to upgrade)

Roger, using a sony tv and sony recorder (which has a form of freeview) it recorded bbc radio without any problems so there you go wagner is still relevant in the digital day and age. My humax does not have freeview, and I ditched virgin cable tv as irrelevant, because I now get a free bbc license.

You ARE allowed to download using iPlayer. They even have a link for it on the iPlayer webpage. There is sometimes a time-limit on how many days it is available for you to view it on your computer.
