Hi All,

I'm wondering about the relative merits of Bamboo flooring versus Hardwood flooring - Of course the manufactureres of the Bamboo stuff claim it's better than hardwood and lasts longer - does anyone have any experience of the stuff.

How hardwearing is it?
Can you Varnish/Oil it?
Can you sand it?

Cheers,

Fecn.

A mate of mine has bamboo flooring in his hallway. It came pre-finished.I personally prefer hardwood.I think his bamboo scratches fairly easily but then that can be said of most varnish finishes, especially in a hallway.

I laid it about a year ago. Its comes lacquered and does scratch quite easily. Having said that I like the look of the grain, and would consider it again.

Don't think repairing the finish would be too easy.

One thing about it, it smelt like warm burnt sugar when you cut it!

Thanks for the replies guys - I was actually asking this on behalf of a friend so I've fed your answers back to him.. and now it's decision time :)

Cheers again.

Fecn.
