Hello all. I am relatively new to turning and have been slowly accumulating the basic tools and am off to do some training this weekend.

I have an Axminster M330 that is about 12 years old and is in excellent condition. Whilst practising some spindle work I have noticed a slight squeeling noise when running above the 2 slowest speeds (a bit like a slipping fan belt on a car). I have made sure the motor is pulled down tight after changing speed.

Does anybody have any ideas/advice?

Many thanks,

Steve

Suggestions

1. New belt needed?
2. Too much tailstock pressure? Back-off or increase the tailstock slightly to see if the noise changes.

I will try moving the tailstock in and out later today and then speak to Axminster if necessary.

Many thanks.
