Hi,

I am currently looking to purchase an Axminster bench grinder, either the engineer series 200mm or the trade series heavy duty 200mm model. I am looking to fit a multitool 2x36 inch belt grinder attachment, which I have coming from trick tools in the states.
I have emailed Axminster asking if the wheel casings can be removed from the machine, as this is necessary in order to fit the multitool attachment. Axminster will not answer my question as they have advised this would make the warranty invalid, due to the machine not having been tested for this use.
Does anyone know if the wheel casings can be removed on these machines? I have seen they sell polishing spindles, so I'm guessing they can be removed in order to fit these.
I have attached an image of the belt grinder attachment fixed to a grinder, to clarify what parts would need removing.

Many thanks,

Tom

I get the impression that the unit is held on the grinder by the existing blade guard mounting bolts/screws. Are these adequate to support the stresses created both by the rotation speed and tensioning the belt.

Or have I missed something??
