Hey,

Finally found a bandsaw, think I've paid over the odds TBH but I couldn't find anything with the depth of cut I wanted. Anything new was looking like £700 ish

I'm going to get some blades from Tuffsaw but wondered if anyone could give me a steer on what I would need for cutting wet bowl/spindle blanks and also general work like cutting dry pen blanks ect. Not looking to do any resawing on it particularly atm

give ian at tuffsaws a shout and he will advise. i cant remember which, but i know that he has a blade for doing just that- Random Orbital Bob had one from him IIRC

even if you did pay a little too much (and i dont think that you did), it is better to do so to get a good machine, than to scrimp and end up with a poor example of a good machine. by this time tomorrow you will have forgotten what you paid, and happily be using it! i like axminster white gear- the bits that i have got are very good, and the planer that i sold, i wish i had kept!

Another + for Tuffsaws.

I contacted them with details of what I needed to do and got exactly the info (and subsequently the blade) that I needed.
Superb customer service in this modern age of couldn't-care-lessness.

No replies as yet, so, I would just take some timber that you would like to cut when it's yours.
It may be likely that it's not perfect and could still need a slight bit of fettling, or a blade change.
Looks a nice and capable saw and for not really big money, good find!
Hope you're pleased.
Regards Rodders

As long as it's physically possible, what you can cut (certainly accurately) is probably more to do with the correct blade and safe use rather than the the actual saw. I can rip and cut blanks 6" - 7" deep on a much lesser saw than that with no problem, so long as I use a perfect blade, they're against a good fence, in a cradle or have stabilisers stuck on with hot melt and so on.
