Hi

I have just realised that when my workshop is installed end of October I will have to bring any tools through the house to get to the shed. I was looking at the Axminster AW12BSB2 and the measurements on the site state its 84cm ish in size and our internal door ways are only 74cms

Does anyone have the saw to confirm the measurements, does it come apart to fit through a door way or does anyone have anyone know of a similar type of table saw that would fit through doors?

thanks

Colin

Hi Colin, the AW12 is the same body as the AW10. I've just measured the top (minus the extension wings) and it's 56x80. So you're good!

It weighs a ton though (over 200lbs), so you'll need help moving it !

Good job that one just came to you!

Easy to forget details I guess.........

Cheers, good luck with moving heavy stuff through the house...

Andrew :)

Thanks mate, thats great news. i assume that the measurements on the Axminster site were with the side tabels on.

cheers

Hi Tech,

I had the exact same problem with my aw10.

We managed to get the crate through half of the house on its little trolley but got to the kitchen door to realise it was about 15cms thinner, the guys from axminster were excellent though and helped me unpack the crate and between three of us we carried everything down to the end of the garden, amazing service. (i also had a load of other things in the delivery they helped carry through as well.)

A possible tip for you; if you can try and get it ordered to store and see if your local store can deliver (it's quicker than the heavy goods delivery, mine was the same week.) and the chaps i had were very accomodating. I'd already discussed in store where it had to go and they were happy to help, albeit i didn't realise it required unpacking mid-house.

They did say i was lucky it wasn't the heavy goods guys as they would have left it at the door step, although this may have been banter :)

Mileage may very obviously, but it might be worth asking the question if you're nearish a store. high wycombe for me is 20 miles away.

Good luck, it weights a bloody ton!

Thanks Copes

My local store is Axminster and im in Portland Dorset so about 40 miles. As long as I can get it through the doors it will be fine as I will have plenty of helpers this end. I was just gutted that I thought it might not be possible due to the size so im glad it comes apart.

thanks

Colin

Heavy goods on my delivery was a young girl in a van, she had no chance of getting it out the van let alone putting it in place, I had to help.

Oh yes forgot to mention it was in her van on a pallet, no tail lift or pallet truck.

Got Florida trip in two weeks then new workshop is arriving so am probably going to look at ordering around Christmas so am hoping that maybe Axminster have a sale around that time, is that likely??

Thought I may aswell resurect this thread instead of starting a new one but I have still not yet pulled the trigger on a table saw. Money is kind of tight at the moment due to car issues so I am wondering about getting a bench top type saw instead of the full cabinet saw. I could knock up a stand for it so that wouldnt be an issue and I think the bench saws are cheaper than the full cabinet type ones so would at least get me started.

As I dont really know yet what I am going to be doing with it I think my main points I want advice on or recommendations for is I want it powerful so it doesnt struggle with everyday stuff and most of all I want a nice solid accurate fence.

So if anyone has any recommendations id appreciate it.

thanks

Colin

I'm not sure you can use "bench top saw" and "good solid fence" in the same sentence.
If youre not really sure what you want to use it for, then I suggest you dont actually need to buy it now.
Start a "saw fund", put away a tenner a week (more if can) and get a full sized one later.

A good table saw is the last item on my wish list now, bit I dont have space yet, it would mean a complete reworking of my entire garage, but that will happen when my "saw fund" is sufficiently healthy.

The Axminster TS-250 basic has an acceptable fence, but with the extension table you get a full width fence and extended front and back rails, this turns it into a very good 10" saw, worth considering.

Thanks, does the back end of the fance have proper support with the extension table as I cant see from the pictures on axminster and ideally its the fence that I want to be good quality.

Anyone got any pictures of the back of the saw to show the fence rail?

cheers

ok ive had a look at the ts250 and see theres quite a selection of varied reviews some good and some not so good.

After a bit of a chat with the wife it might be worth waiting abit and still getting a bigger machine, so whats all your thoughts on the Jet 600

http://www.axminster.co.uk/jet-jts-600-saw-bench-700270

I think its a similar model to the Axminster AW10 and AW12 but with the extra table saw size already included in the price.

any thoughts?

thanks

Three bad reviews out of the twenty four shown on the site is not bad in my estimation, one of the negative review says the riving knife was twisted, I just don't believe that, its machine steel and extremely hard, I had an awful time trying to cut it, let alone bend it.

You have now changed the whole ball game and doubled the budget, well done on manipulating your wife, wish I could do that. (hammer) =D>

lol wasnt just on about that site, I was browsing the web for different reviews.

Part of the deal was that I had to sell some of my watches :(

thanks

To be said in a Yorkshire accent.

You where lucky I had to sell my Porsche.
