Hi all,

I’m about to embark on my first ‘proper’ woodworking project, at the wife’s request: a couple of footstools. We have two spare cushions which I’m planning to use on the top. My question is what is the recommended way to attach the cushion to the wood?

Thanks,
Chris

The usual way is to upholster the top with a layer of cloth or leather over soft stuffing (usually foam). This video by Paul Sellers gives a nice clear step by step approach:

If you want to attach existing fabric cushions, then you should sew tapes on the corners which you can tie round the top - just search for "seat pads" to see the sort of thing.
