For the past two days I cannot send email messages out of Windows Live Mail.

I get this dialogue box

mail.jpg

This came about because I was in Google earth and I found I could send the screen shot I was looking at via email using a button at google earth.
anyway I experimented and sent it to myself to check if it was any good. It appears to have failed and is stuck somewhere because when I try to use windows live mail now I get the above error message.

Tried to get virginmedia to unstick but they are playing me up and not solving the issue.

I can send using the same details and account from my wifes laptop so it is my desktop that is in trouble.

Can I open a new Windows live mail account with a new address?
And how?

It's possible the image was too large for the mail server to allow it through. The message should still be in your outbox or possibly sent items folder.

Gerry

No it is not there, I looked for it.

Perhaps its in google earth somewhere, but cannot see any buttons to press there!

Hi DW

It is in the outbox, but not shown in live mail. To sort it you have to go to the mail storage folder outside of live mail to remove it.

Follow these in order (from memory, but I think the path is accurate)

Ctrl + alt + delete and run task manager. Processes tab, Highlight wmail.exe and choose end programme.

Go start, then to control panel, view by, large icons. Open the one called folder optionsc, middle tab at top 'view'. Un-tick 'show hidden files, hide extension for known file types and hide protected operating system files ( three separate boxes, you will have to confirm on system un hide) OK

Start, click computer. On the left hand panel, click the triangle by computer, c drive, users, 'username', appdata, local, Microsoft, windows live mail, storage folders, outbox. In this folder you will see a file. Delete it, close explorer and re-open live mail to check all OK

If all good, go back to control panel, folders, view and click on default. Close control panel.
This is not a fault of your ISP and they are unlikely to (be able to) help.

Phil

Thanks Phil and all,

Got to go shopping this morning (guess why) but printing out above instructions and will let all know the outcome.

I can see why after reading above how difficult these things can be to overcome.

DW, I know nothing about Windows Live Mail, but I asked Google about that error number and, amongst several suggested site to visit, this came up :- http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... b27bf1b971
Hope it helps,

I found a folder down at the bottom of my e-mail screen that said Newsgroups, clicked on it and found the culprit email photo and deleted it. Then I could send new messages again!

THANKS TO ALL. problem solved.
