Hi Julian! I hope someone near to you can give you a hand!

I got started by watching videos on youtube. Have a search for a channel called HaydenHD.

oh and there are some good books out there on the subject too.

If there are certain things you'd like more about post a pic :)

Here is a link to his current most recent vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3uW8DvD ... ata_player

This guy is funny to but hasn't done that many videos yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQwnyy0z ... ata_player Guy is friends with Carl (Carl is HaydenHD).

Regarding books I have a copy of Dave Registers beginner book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1861 ... ull-site=1

however many people here recommend Keith Rowley: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Woodturning-Fou ... 025&sr=1-2

I don't have he latter so can't personally recommend it but many members will :). I would recommend Dave Registers book, it's wrote quite personnaly which I found fun to read.

Hi Julian

My phone number is on the contact page of my web site here, http://www.marksanger.co.uk/page13.html

Give me a ring it will be easier than typing. I am contactable most days or evenings.

Hi Julian,

If you don't get your queries answered in other ways, you could always visit the Somerset Wood Turners Club http://www.somersetwoodturners.org.uk/

We meet on the second Monday of each month just down the road from you at the Business Centre near Junction 25 of the M5, and our next meeting on 13th February is what we call a 'Hands On' evening. This is where members - and visitors - get the chance to try doing various things on lathes under the guidance of other more experienced members, which might be ideal for you.

No Ferrari to give you a lift to the meeting I'm afraid, Julian, but just turn up at around 7:15 pm.

You will be asked to pay a visitors fee (about £4.00 I think - only £2.00 for members) by Janet, our Treasurer at the desk, and you could ask her to point me out to introduce you around.

We meet right at the back of the large business centre building, so drive in just about as far as you can go, following the road around the car parks.

Hope to see you there.

Don
