I recently bought 16 Alex Mathieson moulding planes...the earlier ones (ca 1850's ) all seem to have Hildick blades...any idea when he stopped outsourcing the blades and started made them in house?
Or was it always a matter of whichever was the best...aka cheapest ..way to go?
