That is it. Is there any easy way to make a Unicorn Horn? What I need to know is how to make the spiral bit.

Thanks

obviously you would need to adapt it slightly to use a tapered piece

I just Googled "how to make a unicorn horn", and there's quite a bit on there made from various materials
and using several methods.

Just don't poach one and cut off its horn.

Much better fried.

Do you know how to mark out a straight cylinder to cut a spiral? I would have thought that you could do the same with the horn shape. Only difference being that the lines along would not be parallel but end at the point . Should work.
Mark the circumference at the bottom off into say 4 sections and do this at regular intervals all the way up. Draw a line up the horn, easiest done on the lathe along the tool rest or a straight edge on it. You will have a series of rectangles marked now and if you draw across them from corner to corner working your way up the horn you should have 4 lines spiraling up which can then be cut back to give the spiral effect.

Not making it sound easy but it isn't that hard, cutting the spirals cleanly is the hardest part.

Hope this helps, not confuses LOL.

Thanks to everyone for the help... someone I know has a fascination for Unicorns and I would like to make a horn for her as asurprise, No idea when I will get around to it. Still trying to recover from my disaster with what should have been my first competition entry.

Thinking about it, a holly branch would be a superb starting point - tapered and white.
