Anyone with an interest in American timbers should seek out "The Woodbook - the complete plates" Published by Taschen it's £25 and available in Wat..........s. 800 pages of joy. It shows transverse, tangential and radial plates of probably every known timber and gives details of the trees and also common uses for the timbers. Absolutely stunning! The text is in English, French and German, and the plates are labelled in English, Spanish and French. It gives the Latin, obviously, and English synonyms.
If only they did a European version! - I suppose they might think about it if this one sells.
