Lidl have one similar for £3 cheaper http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/our-offers-2491.htm?action=showDetail&id=16129&ar=3. I'd also like to know as about to get into the world of open fires and log burners. My thoughts are that they are only going to give a reading on the outside with no idea what the middle of the log is like.

Nobody says what the item is, links outdated. I assume from last one, moisture meter for log burning.
As one stated checks the outside. I buy my logs in a batch, throw one on, see how it burns, if a bit off, leave a coupls of months more.
they say, softwood leave one year, hardwood two years. longer the better, I bought a load last year, already seasoned. they for this year. Aldi logs, tend to be under seasoned. leave a few months more at least. try and stock up when cheap, and leave to season.
