I got one of those a year or two ago, great for sharpening but the belt kept slipping off. real pita. Great apart from that.
 
I also bought one for sharpening and had the same issues, it's now stripped down waiting to become a buffing machine.

It wasnt too noisy if i recall, about the same as an average cheap grinder, need to talk a bit louder to hold a conversation over it running but it wasnt earmuffs loud.

I've just realised that the instructions for the buffing system is recommending a minimum of half a horse in power for the grinder to use with their wheels, which I think equates to something like 375 watts. I suspect this Aldi one will be more like most of the other cheapo grinders in that is is low powered. Do you know what the HP or wattage is please?

I went to have a look at Aldi tonight and this grinder is 240w so I think that is about 1/3 HP so not really suitable for the buffing system :(
