Hi, im after some advice!

I've been thinking about adapting my 3 burner BBQ into some form of 'Outdoor kitchen'. Getting the BBQ out of my garage would give more room in there for woodwork!

The BBQ would quite easy fit onto a basic rack with cupboards either side and underneath. Would there be any issues with heat from the BBQ as it would be resting on the wood? And any particular wood to use as it would be outside? Possibly unde a cover but still exposed to north east England weather!

Any advice would be great,

Thanks

I think that outdoor kitchens are more usually built of brick and concrete. By all means have a wooden trolley for prep and serving, but the hot areas are best kept away from wood.

Any wood should be well below the burner level, or at least 2 foot above, or at least 6" side and rear,
Much better to build in block, not least because the wood is liable to severe twisting and / or rot.

That's what I like to see Russell, outdoor kitchens are not just for the suveners T shirts in the snow while at the bbq up Norf , Love it lol joke aside I agree with the build something in block should be east enough and maintenance free.

Depends on your BBQ. I have two, both about to be accommodated in an oak pergola. I have a Kamodo XXL charcoal BBQ (Big Green Egg) which is mounted in an Iroko table. I also have a Weber summit gas grill BBQ which is in a stainless steel trolley but will be fine mounted in a wooden table as well. If it is outside you have pretty low risk. You need to reveal what kind of BBQ you have.

I made one for the RHS Chelsea show in 2009, courtyard garden.
I used Massaundubla.
Looked great got a silver for it. Would I make one for myself, no like others have said I'd prefer a brick and block one.

It's and Outback 3 Burner gas BBQ, it's mounted on a wooden frame at the moment which is how it was bought, it's quite old now but works fine.
Thinking of mounting the BBQ on to the wood with side tables and area for beer tap to be connect with shelving/cupboards underneath.
Just the issue of the weather and if the BBQ would get to hot and cause a problem...

Here's an outdoor kitchen I built for my grandaughter.
