I had a request for a pair of small matching bowls. BUT.. the brief was for the wood to be very plain. The requester does not like to see "character", figure or colour changes. so have been looking for sycamore, poplar or maple. Saw this in the wood pile and thought "that ought to do". was surprised at what turned up. Just roughed out for drying.

In case you are guessing, it was from a small birch log. I rarely get birch here, it arrived with some prunings from down by the stream. I really did not expect this colour.

I find it great when you turn something that when you first pick it out of the wood pile does not show any signs of being very exiting and then turns up like your bowl. Great looking bowl and well finished
