The chunkiness was necessity rather than choice - the wood was falling apart , especially on the cut ends. As it was I had to saturate it with Rustin's Plastic to stabilise it.

Can you build that stuff up, or is it better to use resin? I am making a "booze cupboard" worktop out of uneven materials and need it to end up flat. Planned on using the resin I have used on other things before now, but if the Rustins works out cheaper and can be poured, might try that instead? I think I am answering my own question now, the resin probably costs a lot less than that much of the Rustins.

I'll use that for gluing but not for chucking all over by the bucket load, I'll stick to the industrial grade stuff I normally use.
