I'm a happy Bunny this easter.. ( well, a week after easter ... )

Having been really unsettled in my work, I've been offered a new job as Business Development Manager for a really nice worldwide company. :D

I've only been in my current job for a year .. they make great products, are fine-enough people, but the 'back-up' ( and delivery / availability etc ) is woeful, to the point where I was terrified of hearing clients saying 'I'd Like to Order X,Y Z.. etc from you',... because I knew it would turn to ratzpoo almost immediately .
Not good . Not 'healthy'... and brought with it a strange / different 'stress', than those usually experienced in a similar commercial environment.

The new job is a bit more 'specialised', on Pneumatically driven High Pressure Pumps, Test Rigs, Chemical Injection Units, Gas Boosters, High Pressure Pipefittings & valves ( up to 150,000 psi   oooeerr !! )
and is with the industry leader worldwide......

.....and I cant blo*dy wait !!!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Sorry its not a 'turnery' posting.. but I'm like a kid with a new toy..
chuffed to bits
Nice, given the current economic climate, and being the wrong side of 40, to have this opportunity.
Lets hope I can repay the faith, and not screw it up

fantastic Alun. I know what it's like to have a virtually pointless job and be completely demoralised by it.

Wishing you all the luck in your new position and hope you can squeeze some turning time around that high powered boardroom blue sky thinking. ;)

Congratulations. Especioally so if, as it sounds you ahve been headhunted as that is always a really good feeling.

How much time is this new job gouing to leave for lathe work though?

Pete

  Indeed L/W, the UK HQ is in your neck of the woods ! ...
But for my sins, I will be still up here, working from the Aberdeen office.
--I was there last week, and very impressed by the factory and 'setup'.
Its part of a huge US Based Multi-disciplined conglomerate ( as are the company I work for at the moment ).. Initially, I understand that I'll be down in NE England for some quite intensive training for a fair bit of time. :D 8)

Pete, yes .. they came looking for me this time, on the recommendation of one of our current clients... as you say, its quite a nice feeling, and something I'd not had happen for many many years.

We cant let it get too serious as to detract from quality lathe-time ! A man has 'priorities'
Lathe-Fishing-Lathe-Motorbike-Lathe-Guitars-Lathe-Dog/Motorbike/Fishing/Guitars-Wife-Lathe, lathe and lathe....... work.

well done Alun, i'm chuffed to bits for you. All it needs now is to show them they made the right choice

Good on yer Alun
hope everything goes well in your new position. Wish I could get a new job but as I now only have four years to go too retiring I'll have to make the present job last if possible :? :?

Malcolm

A change to here about someone with positive news for a change, best of luck in the new position.

Well, Alun, I think that's probably the most deserved gloat on the forum! New job through being headhunted (why when that happened to me were the jobs always in dodgy places???) no need to move home and in the teeth of a recession too.
Great!

Well done Jenx

My interpretation is that we can expect a vacuum chuck soon.... pending the gestation period :p :p :p

Given the lathe, lathe, lathe, wfie (intended  ) I'm guessing she doesn't read your forum postings

(remind me not to mention it when I come up to see you
   )

So, over 40 and still employable? Well done that man :!:

Great news Alun

What a difference it makes having a job you are happy with, not to mention the lift it gives when they come looking for you.

Hope it turns out to be all you wish it to be. :D :D :D :D

Regards,

Mike C
