bought a barn stored load of oak planking said to be over 20 years 8 @ 4x3 & 3 @ 4x2 all about 2 inch thick cost me £95 bit of rot around the edge plus a few splits me thinks will i get sick of cleaning it up would you Cheers Dave

Is that the lithgows oak ? Looked pretty good in the flesh but didn't pay it much attention as it wouldn't fit in my car.

Nope this was in a local paper i think the lithgows oak looked cleaner than mine Thanks for your reply Cheers Dave
 
At a timber yard your £95 would have got you roughly two cubic feet of oak, you'd still have had to deal with shakes and knots. I bet you've done a lot better than that!
