Hello all
I've never tried wood turning before, but I've just been given a set of brand new turning chisels. so I like to test them out but I haven't got a lathe, so here comes the cunning plan.

I've have got a rusty old cement mixer in the workshop, would it be possible to turn it into a lathe for turning bowls?, or is it to slow?

Thanks all Liam

far too slow I'd have though and a bonkers idea to book. As Mike says, fix up the cement mixer, sell it an buy a lathe.

Hello Liam. A GOOD plan would be find a woodturning club Chelmer Valley 3rd wednesday at 7.00.pm Colchester 1st monday at 7.30.pm BARINGSIDE 2nd wednesday. and so on. HGB.

They're a good bunch up there and good facilities. I've not been able to attend while I've been in and out of hospital. Hoping to get to the Eli Avisera demo next month tho! ;)
