Nice One vic mate Luv em great finish did U use the homemade tools ?
regards
Bill

Yes Bill I used the homemade tools. The yew was a lump of old log and the Easy-wood r4 cutter soon got it into shape. All the hollowing was done with the tips that you provided and it flew it out.

I am really pleased with the tools I find them a lot easier on the old hands

Cheers
Vic

Both really good pieces of turning, somehow I have to learn not to leave so many toolmarks, Fortunately much of what I have turned is just blanks of greenwood to be finished later. Hopefully by then I will have learned to cut smoothly without the tramlines.

I really like the looks of yew, not yet been able to get any.

Hi woodfarmer, if I can give you any advise on a good finish it would be,

1 Make sure that you keep you tools sharp
2 Keep the bevel of the tool in contact with the wood
3 Take your time, nice steady cuts, do not be tempted to take too much off at a time
4 Keep practicing
5 Invest in some good quality abrasives
