Hi All,

ive been searching the net and also the forum for Auger bits and have foudn nothing close to what i want.

I want a 5mm diameter long auger bit (that will drill a 9-10 cm hole) !!!

So far the thinnest size i found is 6mm !!!!!

Ive got a long 5mm auger bit my father-in-law gave me, but this is not turning true and my attempts to straigthen have not been very succesful..

Id like to get a new one, as the holes im drilling need to be SURELY EXACT !!! pinpoint accuracy :?

any ideas where i can source one ?

Thanks,

George

Does it have to be an auger, you can get a 3/16" x 12" long lip & spur in the sets that Tilgear & Rutlands do.

hi jason,

i know what a spur bit is but i do not know what a lip& spur bit is . is it the same thing ???

3/16, this equate to 4.76 mm , but i guess once i have the normal 5mm drill 'enlarge' the holes. i didnt know you could get them this long..certainly an answer to my 'problem' ...

thanks,

George

You'll see a lip and spur bit here on the Axminster website. How long does the bit have to be as a 5 mm L&S bit won't normally be very long?

Hi all,

thanks for the replies..i guess that

lip & spur = spur = brad !!!!

ill try and get a suitable spur bit (lengthwise) and will try it out..

Thanks again,

George
