1930s staircase spindles

We’re getting a 1930s semi ready for my elderly mother in law. The stairs have two horrid patterned glass panels which seem like an accident waiting to happen. So, it would be nice to replace with appropriate spindles. Our house is the same but I think a previous owner mucked about with things (various naff eighties touches) so I’m loathe to copy these. Should I just canvas google images, or is there a good resource for this kind of detail?

If it's any help, the 30s semi I grew up in just had plain square sticks, probably about 7/8" square. This was in a fairly ordinary house, with plain square skirtings and skimpy architraves. Newel posts were plain, square section with a nailed on cap.

There are old millwork catalogue reprints that have the spindles along with the other mouldings etc sold to house builders in those days. They are a good resource. There are no full size drawings but are good for inspiration. There are others you can dig up by varying your searches. Some other members may have titles to look for.
