What is this plane used for?

@ Wolfgang, There was no number on the cap iron. I made a mistake  ; the stamped cap iron screw with the Steiner logo is on another plane I have. This one ( from your museum). There is no number stamped on that one either.---

What is this plane used for?

Wolfgang, It seems you are quite right.... I have been looking at the screw that holds the cap iron. I has some kind of graphic on it, but I couldn't make anything out of it. Then I saw this picture on the page "Kleines Werkzeugmuseum" That's what is on the screw. This evening I'll see if...

What is this plane used for?

Here are some answers: There is no sign or whatsoever on the plane indicating who the maker is. On the back of the plane is stamped " 30 " indicating the with of the blade. The blade is 3 cm wide. That would be 1.18 inch or 1 3/16 ( I am not used to inches... I don't know if I am 100 %...

What is this plane used for?

ahhh.. that's better. When you look at the 3rd picture you can see the plane you've bought even better. But... I dear to disagree. The iron "infill" ( where the blade rests ) is not present in that plane. The blade rests in a wooden bed.

What is this plane used for?

@ Derek: I'll measure the blade this evening. I don't think however that it is an ECE... there is no indication. ECE's current scrub plane has an hornbeam sole and no iron infill ( metal abutments ) @ Pedder : I'll see what I can do this evening @ BugBear : Yes, the sole Lignum Here is the ECE

Thank you all very much for your input. Yesterday ( Sunday ), a quick look in the inventory learned that I didn't have MDF scrap, nor didn't I have double sided tape and my expanding bit goes only until 45 mm, and not 76 as needed. So, with all the input given and the materials at hand I...
